Kymberli's story
I grew up with creative influences in my life and saw how my relatives contributed to the arts through their craft. When I was 7 years old, my parents took me to NY to see a Broadway show with Debbie Reynolds called “Irene”. Somehow they managed to wrangle a behind the scenes visit with Debbie and her daughter Carrie Fisher—who was also in the show. The time Debbie and Carrie took to encourage my dreams of working in the industry—was a tipping point. That special exchange cemented what I wanted to do when I grew up—create memorable moments that make a difference in people’s lives.
Since graduation, I was fortunate to work in the entertainment industry. I started in front of the camera and then worked at Viacom for a decade to launch new networks. It was an unexpected opportunity in 2005 where I found what filled my soul—event cinema. At the time. event cinema was a $2M business and today it is edging close to $200M. We started with just a few events per year and expanded to 300+ annually. My most memorable events are those that were the most complex—Mayweather vs. Macgregor and all Boxing events, AMC’s: Walking Dead, Les Miserables 25th Anniversary, The creation of the Grateful Dead Annual Meet Up. The challenges of production, rights, deal-making, and marketing sometimes takes years to solve. I’ve learned to be patient—the right project will find the right time.
In 2018 I transitioned to Trafalgar Releasing as the next logical career evolution—securing global events. Trafalgar Releasing is the only event cinema company that delivers globally to cinemas in all major territories. Our expertise on the World stage is unrivaled. One of my first event acquisitions at Trafalgar Releasing was BTS: Burn the Stage. It broke worldwide cinema records.
I am most proud of being able to see opportunities where others may not and aligning relationships to create something really special for our attendees and circuit partners. There is no real science to what we do, no crystal ball and cinema going behaviors can change quickly but that is what keeps it all exciting!
