Denver, CO, May 30: Trafalgar Releasing and Rhino Entertainment today announced a new distribution agreement for the Annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies event.

The new distribution agreement expands the annual cinema event to movie theaters worldwide for the first time for its ninth instalment on August 1, which was Grateful Dead founding member Jerry Garcia’s birthday. The relationship also offers a more robust mix of all cinema chains in the US, reflecting Trafalgar Releasing’s commitment to working with a diverse selection of cinemas, from independent theaters to art houses and multiplexes.

Rhino Entertainment and Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux custom curate the shows chosen for the annual cinema events from archival performances to capture the spirit, essence and musicianship the Grateful Dead shared with their legion of “Dead Heads.”

Last year’s Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies event featured RFK Stadium’s 1989 concert from the nation’s Capital with this year’s concert to be announced on June 13 in conjunction with the ticket on sale date.

Mark Pinkus, President of Rhino Entertainment who oversees Grateful Dead Properties said:

”It’s been incredibly exciting to watch the Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies evolve over the last eight years, with the audiences growing larger and more eclectic with each installment. Partnering with Trafalgar Releasing will now take us to the next step in this evolution, with even more diverse cinema offerings and worldwide distribution. I fully expect the ninth annual Meet-Up being the biggest yet and look forward to attending on August 1.”

Kymberli Frueh, SVP for Acquisitions at Trafalgar Releasing added: “Trafalgar Releasing couldn’t be more excited to unite Grateful Dead fans across the globe for this exciting expansion of the annual Meet -Up leading into its ninth year.
